2nd Period

Araby Questions

Quite a few of you didn't answer the FIVE "Araby" post reading questions.

Here they are again:

1. What was the impact of this experience on the narrator.
2. Explain, in detail, the last sentence.
3. Who's speaking in the last sentence (the older or young narrator), and how do you know?
4. What archetypes and motifs does James Joyce employ in telling the story?
5. (This should be your longest answer) After the climax, how, specifically, do the narrator - and even the story itself - unravel?

BONUS, because you need it: What do you make of the "Joycean epiphany" in this story? An epiphany is usually a positive and sudden revelation or insight that helps a character understand something about themselves and/or the world; however, this epiphany feels different.
